The Processing Process Of Titanium Springs
1. Material Selection And Pretreatment
Material Selection: High-strength β titanium alloys (such as TB3, TB6, TB9) are usually selected, which have good processing properties after solution treatment. For example, TB3 and TB6 are suitable for hot coiling processes for large diameter springs (12-45mm).
Blanking: Cutting with a band saw, controlling the length deviation and grinding the cutting surface to ensure the accuracy of subsequent molding.
2. Heating And Molding
Roll Heating: The heating temperature is adjusted according to different materials, such as TB6 needs 800-830 °C, and the heat preservation is 30-60 minutes; TB3 is 750-780°C, keep warm for 60-90 minutes, and clean the furnace to prevent oxidation before heating.
Roll Forming: Use a spring coiling machine with a mandrel to form at one time, and the diameter of the mandrel matches the design parameters of the spring (such as diameter 195mm for TB6 spring).
3. Heat Treatment And Post-Treatment
Quenching And Aging: The quenching medium is usually water, the aging temperature range is wide (450-650 °C), and the time is adjusted according to the alloy type (such as 8-10 hours for TB6 and 10-16 hours for TB3) to improve the tensile strength to 1300-1350MPa.
Surface Treatment: Shot peening strengthened (such as 0.15-0.25mm steel shot covering 100%) to enhance fatigue resistance and reduce stress relaxation.
Finishing: CNC spring grinding machine fine grinding end face, control free height (±2mm), flatness (≤0.5mm) and perpendicularity (≤0.5mm).
4. Quality Inspection
Performance tests include load tests, fatigue tests (e.g. more than 25,000 dynamic cycles), and ultrasonic flaw detection to ensure that there are no internal defects.
