Titanium Rod
Grades Of Titanium Rods
GR1: Corresponding to the national standard TA1, pure titanium, with excellent corrosion resistance and plasticity, often used in chemical and medical fields.
GR2: Corresponding to the national standard TA2, pure titanium, the strength is slightly higher than GR1, and the applicability is wider.
GR3: Corresponding to the national standard TA3, pure titanium, the strength and corrosion resistance are further improved, but the processing difficulty is higher.
GR5: Corresponding to the national standard TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V), it is a titanium alloy with high strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature performance, and is widely used in aerospace, medical implants and other fields.
GR7: Palladium-containing titanium alloy with greater corrosion resistance and suitable for harsh chemical environments.
GR12: Titanium alloy containing molybdenum and nickel, with outstanding high temperature resistance and stress corrosion resistance, commonly used in petrochemical equipment.
ASTM B348: General Standard for Titanium and Titanium Alloy Bars.
ASTM F136: Special standard for medical titanium alloys (e.g., GR5) to ensure biocompatibility.
ASTM F67: Medical Standard for Pure Titanium Materials.
AMS 4928: Specification of titanium alloys for aerospace, emphasizing high-temperature performance.
The Processing Technology Of Titanium Rod
Hot Processing Stage:
Hot Forging: Preliminary forming through high-temperature forging to improve the internal structure of the material.
Hot Rolling: further refinement of grains to improve material uniformity and mechanical properties.
Surface Treatment:
Polishing: Remove surface oxide layers and defects to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
Polishing (part of the process): Titanium rods for medical or high-precision applications to improve surface quality.
Status Processing:
Hot Working State (R): The state after direct hot processing, which retains high strength.
Annealed state (M): Eliminates internal stress, improves plasticity and stability.
Cold Working State (Y): Hardness and strength are increased by cold rolling or cold drawing, but the amount of deformation needs to be controlled to avoid cracking.
Solution State (ST): suitable for alloy materials, optimize the comprehensive properties.
The Application Of Titanium Rods
Aerospace: such as GR5 (TC4) is used for engine components and fuselage structure.
Medical: GR1, GR2, GR5 are used for implants and surgical instruments.
Chemical/Energy: GR7 and GR12 are used in corrosion-resistant pipelines and reaction equipment.
Through the above processes and standards, titanium rods can meet the requirements of different industries for strength, corrosion resistance and accuracy while ensuring performance.
